Irish Mias

Trainer:  H. Graham Motion

Last race:  July 24, 6th

Finish:  2nd by 1 1/4

Beyer:  80

Two-year-old was rained off the turf for his career debut then promptly missed the break to wind up last earl, before coming with a good finish to make up ground on a front-running winner. Sky Mesa colt has a versatile pedigree, being from the family of Irish War Cry (multiple graded stakes winner on dirt) and Irish Strait (graded stakes winner on turf).

Shoplifted

Trainer:  Steve Asmussen

Last race:  July 27, 4th

Finish:  1st by 4 1/2

Beyer:  75

Expensive 2-year-old in training purchase is from a strong female family.  He was bet hard for his career debut. He got out-paced early, but he gathered himself once into the stretch and came with a strong finish to run over the leaders late.

New and Improved

Trainer:  Chad Brown

Last race:  July 28, 7th

Finish:  1st by 1

Beyer:  78

Gray filly made her career debut going long on turf for top connections. She always traveled strongly after a slow start before overpowering the field from the back of the pack while under a hand ride late.

Shancelot

Trainer:  Jorge Navarro

Last race:  July 28, 11th

Finish:  1st by 12 1/2

Beyer:  121

Doubt anyone missed this but there is no telling how good this 3-year-old sprinter is following his Grade 2 Amsterdam demolition in fast time.
