Belmont at the Big A cancels Thursday card

Racing at Belmont at the Big A will resume Friday, when the Tempted and Pumpkin Pie will be featured.

The eight-race Thursday program for Belmont at the Big A has been canceled due to a forecast that called for high winds and rain, the New York Racing Association announced Thursday morning. 

According to the National Weather Service, the winds were forecast between 16 and 22 miles per hour with gusts as high as 41 miles per hour. Also, between three-quarters to an inch of rain is forecast.

Only two of the eight races were scheduled to be run on turf.

A pick six carryover of $34,908 will move to Friday's program, beginning in race 4 at 2:27 p.m.

Belmont at the Big A will be open for simulcasting on Thursday.

Live racing is scheduled to resume Friday with a nine-race card beginning at 1:05 p.m. That card includes the $150,000 Tempted Stakes for 2-year-old fillies and the $150,000 Pumpkin Pie Stake for female sprinters.
