Brad Free's Del Mar Horses to Watch for week of July 24-27, 2025

TIGER IN MY TANK
Trainer: Librado Barocio
Last race: July 24, 4th
Finish: 5th by 4 3/4
Beyer: 65
Comeback gelding pressed and faded in Cal-bred turf sprint, his first start in nine months. He needed the prep, prefers dirt, and is likely to improve next out dropping in class.

OOTY
Trainer: Bob Baffert
Last race: July 24, 7th
Finish: 2nd by 3 1/2
Beyer: 77
Group 1 winner in Argentina ran well in U.S. debut. Pressed pace while no match for odds-on winner, gamely held second. Solid try at six furlongs, which was perhaps too short.

CLAMPETT
Trainer: Sergio Morfin
Last race: July 25, 1st
Finish: 1st by 1 3/4
Beyer: 88
Comeback claiming sprinter pressed pace, rallied outside, and drew away in fast time. Timely $16k claim by Morfin from Mark Glatt. Clampett can go back up the ladder.

CIVIL LIBERTY
Trainer: Doug O’Neill
Last race: July 26, 4th
Finish: 2nd by 5 1/4
Beyer: 87
Debut 2-year-old colt dueled through fast fractions, shrugged off early pace rival, held second behind 101-Beyer winner Brant. Civil Liberty will be tough vs. maidens next out.

GOT THE RING
Trainer: Peter Miller
Last race: July 26, 7th
Finish: 2nd by 3/4
Beyer: 40
Second-start 2-year-old filly broke last in maiden turf mile, lagged far back, finished fastest of any. She was best, and looms a contender in maiden route next time out.

USHA
Trainer: Bob Baffert
Last race: July 27, 8th
Finish: 1st by 11 1/2
Beyer: 95
After four disappointing starts last year, 3-year-old filly scored a smashing maiden comeback win. Added Lasix, pressed pace, ran away. Could be any type. Up the ladder.
