Comeback gelding favored in N3L starter turf sprint, was shuffled early, lost position, then evenly thereafter. News At Ten runs best forwardly placed, should improve second start back, short or long.

LITTLE TINKER ELLE

Low-level claiming filly set fast fractions, shook off pace rival, then was worn down in sprint dominated by late-runners. Speedster can be long gone next out at Santa Anita or Los Alamitos, day or night.

PAVEL IS APPEALING

Cal-bred sprint filly was much improved second start back. Pressed pace in allowance turf sprint, made lead, finished clear of third. She has run well on Del Mar dirt, follow in summer sprint.

Debut 2-year-old shot to lead, had an easy first quarter, and won geared down in 51.76, the fastest 4 1/2 at Santa Anita in five years. Early Voting colt is the early favorite for the Graduation Stakes for Cal-breds Aug. 7 at Del Mar.
