After finishing sixth-placed-fifth in his Breeders Crown 3-Year-Old Colt Trot elimination on Saturday night at the Meadowlands, trainer Nancy Takter announced on Monday on Facebook that Karl will not compete in the final.
"Regretfully I am announcing that Karl will not be entered into the Breeders Crown final," Takter's post read. "After his race on Saturday, he was scoped and found to be sick. After discussions with partners and further tests by our veterinarian, we have collectively decided that it would not be fair to race Karl without being certain of his complete health.
"This was a very sad decision to make but I know it's the right decision to make. Karl has had an incredible career and has brought us all immense joy and excitement. I must and will always prioritize his future well-being and ensure he is given the best chance for a healthy recovery."
