ARCADIA, Calif. - Trainer Phil D’Amato worked all seven of his prospective Breeders’ Cup starters Saturday morning at Santa Anita.
Vodka With a Twist (Juvenile Fillies) worked five furlongs in company with One Magic Philly (Filly and Mare Sprint), the two being timed in 1:00.80. D’Amato liked what he saw from Vodka With a Twist, who will be stretching out to 1 1/16 miles for the first time.
“Judging by the way she breezed today with an older horse and the gallop out she gave, you never know til you try it, but she doesn’t give us any indication that she shouldn’t like an extra furlong from her last race,” D’Amato said.
D’Amato said he was pleased enough with One Magic Philly on Saturday, but said a decision would be made on Sunday regarding whether to run in the Breeders’ Cup or the Bayakoa on the same day.
Gold Phoenix (Turf) and Hang the Moon (Filly and Mare Turf) both worked five furlongs in 1:00.40 over the synthetic training track. Motorious (Turf Sprint) went a half-mile in 48.80 seconds, also over the training track.
Iron Man Cal (Juvenile Turf) went five furlongs in 1:00.20 over the main track. Che Evasora, who will be a longshot in the Distaff, worked five furlongs in 1:00.
