The sprinters Hope Road and Imagination worked five furlongs in a scorching 57.80 seconds at Santa Anita on Friday for Breeders’ Cup races on Nov. 1.
Both 4-year-olds, Hope Road and Imagination were part of a small team of runners trained by Bob Baffert who worked on Friday.
The filly Hope Road, winner of the Grade 1 Ballerina Stakes at Saratoga on Aug. 23 for her third stakes win, is scheduled to run in the BC Filly and Mare Sprint along with stablemates Richi and Splendora.
On Friday at Santa Anita, Richi worked five furlongs in 58.20 seconds. Richi was second in the Grade 2 Zenyatta Stakes on Sept. 28.
Imagination earned a fees-paid berth to the BC Sprint at six furlongs with a win in the Grade 2 Santa Anita Sprint Championship on Sept. 28, his first start since January.

Among 2-year-old males being prepared for the BC Juvenile on Oct. 31, the Baffert-trained Brant worked six furlongs in 1:12.60, while Intrepido worked five furlongs in 1:04.
Brant won the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity at seven furlongs in his last start on Sept. 7. Intrepido, winner of the Grade 1 American Pharoah Stakes on Oct. 4, is trained by Jeff Mullins. The slow workout continued a recent pattern for Intrepido, who worked a half-mile in 52.80 seconds on Oct. 17.
