Precise was scratched from the Juvenile Fillies Turf after coughing a number of times. She would have been a heavy favorite.

DEL MAR, Calif. - Precise, the 6-5 morning-line favorite for Friday’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, and Blackout Time, the third choice in Friday’s $2 million Juvenile, have been scratched from their respective races, according to their connections.

Aidan O’Brien, trainer of Precise, told Matt Chapman of At the Races, that Precise coughed 10 times.

Kenny McPeek, the trainer of Blackout Time, said he was perplexed about why the vets scratched Blackout Time from the Juvenile.

"Two days ago, they flexed him up, they didn't like his left front ankle, we X-rayed it on their request, perfectly clean nothing there," McPeek said. "This morning at 5:30 I jogged him up and back five times and he was fine. The horse jogged beautifully. The state vets come back and say they don't like his left hind ankle. I said 'I thought we were looking at his left front ankle.' They made the decision to scratch him. We X-rayed him and the X-rays were clean.

"I think we're in the age of paralysis analysis," McPeek said.

The Juvenile Field is now down to six as Civil Liberty was scratched earlier in the week.

Also, Military Code was scratched out of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint, which allows Later Than Planned to draw into the field.
