Cigar Mile hopefuls work

Crazy Mason worked a half-mile in 49.50 seconds, his sixth work since finishing second in the Vosburgh.

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – With rain expected Friday night into Saturday morning, a trio of Grade 2 Cigar Mile contenders put in workouts Friday morning over Belmont’s training track.

Crazy Mason, the Grade 2 Carter winner who most recently finished second in the Grade 3 Vosburgh, worked a half-mile in 49.50 seconds, his sixth work since the Vosburgh. Bishops Bay, winner of the Grade 3 Forty Niner Stakes, worked a half-mile in 48 seconds, the fourth fastest of 110 moves at the distance. Rated by Merit, the undefeated 3-year-old who won the Dwyer in his most recent start, worked a half-mile in 48.88.
