During his stallion career, Distorted Humor sired 2003 Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner Funny Cide, as well as 2011 Belmont winner Drosselmeyer.

Classic sire and leading sire Distorted Humor was euthanized Saturday morning due to the infirmities of old age, WinStar Farm, where the stallion resided as a pensioner following his long career, has announced. The stallion was 33.

“It’s a deeply sad day for all of us at WinStar Farm to lose a generational sire like Distorted Humor,” Elliott Walden, president, CEO, and racing manager of WinStar, said in a release. “We take solace in the legacy he leaves behind. His sons and daughters have won on the biggest stages, and his daughters are proving to be exceptional producers. His impact on the breed is undeniable and will be felt for generations to come.”

Distorted Humor’s best runners include champion Funny Cide, the popular 2003 Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner who was among his four champions worldwide. He also sired 2011 Belmont Stakes winner Drosselmeyer, and is an influential broodmare sire, with daughters producing the likes of Hall of Famer Arrogate.
