Cumberland Run: Four-year-olds clash in Kentucky Sire Stakes

Kentucky Sire Stakes action returned to Cumberland Run on Sunday afternoon with $50,000 races for 4-year-olds.

Driver Todd McCarthy swept the trotting tilts, connecting in the contest for mares with Pizzelle (by Walner and bred by Brittany Farms, paid $11.14 to win) in 1:54 4/5 for trainer Carter Pinske and owners Donald Robinson, Michael Robinson, Harold Bauder and Steve Stewart, and in the event for the boys with Ordained (by Father Patrick and bred by J&T Silva Stables, LLC., paid $10.34 to win) in 1:55 for trainer Ron Burke and owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., Weaver Bruscemi LLC., Beasty LLC. and Frank Baldachino.

The male pace saw Women Layer (by Sweet Lou and bred by Carl Howard, paid $2.20 to win) prevail in 1:50 4/5 for driver Dexter Dunn, trainer Virgil Morgan Jr. and owners Let It Ride Stables Inc., Jeff Fought Racing, Larry Wills and Jesmeral Stable and the mare pace went to Bath Bomb (by Lather Up and bred by Mark Smith, paid $2.28 to win) in 1:50 4/5 for driver Andy McCarthy, trainer Per Engblom and owner Morrison Racing Stables.
