Cumberland Run: Kentucky Sires Stakes bonanza held on Sunday

The second season of live racing at the five-eighths-mile Cumberland Run track in Corbin, Kentucky, kicked off with an all sires stakes program for 2-year-olds on Sunday afternoon. Drivers Dexter Dunn, Yannick Gingras, Todd McCarthy and David Miller all had three victories on the 14-race program and each sires stakes split went for a purse of $40,000.

Dunn won a colt and gelding trot with Dame On (by Chapter Seven and bred by owner John Cummins, paid $7.54 to win) in 1:55 4/5 for trainer Travis Alexander, a filly trot with Pink Whiskey (by Southwind Frank and bred by Crawford Farms, paid $11.52 to win) in 1:57 3/5 for trainer Matthew Burkholder and trainer Dark Horse Farm LLC. and a colt and gelding pace with Blue Onyx (by Tall Dark Stranger and bred by co-owner Crawford Farms, paid $4.30 to win) in 1:53 4/5 for trainer Tony Alagna and co-owners Pryde & Alagna Stable, Brad Grant and William Beattie.

Gingras's victories came in filly paces with Ron Burke trainees Karma (by Tall Dark Stranger and bred by Crawford Farms, paid $11.56 to win) in 1:53 4/5 for owners Thomas and Scott Dillon and Accede (by Tall Dark Stranger, bred by Donald Robinson, Michael Robinson, Steve Stewart and James Daut, paid $5.64 to win) in 1:53 3/5 for the Dillons and Craig Henderson and a colt and gelding trot with Channing (by Propulsion, bred by co-owner Crawford Farms, paid $4.32 to win) in 1:56 for trainer Nancy Takter and co-owners Brad Grant, Howard Taylor and Rojan Stables.

McCarthy captured a colt and gelding trot with Hard Seven (by Chapter Seven and bred by Ola Yoder, paid $5.52 to win) in 1:56 4/5 for trainer Nancy Takter and owners Let It Ride Stables Inc., Maurice Chodash and Boca Racing LLC., a filly trot with Divine Thing (by Greenshoe and bred by Crawford Farms, paid $3.18 to win) in 1:56 2/5 for trainer Steve Carter and owners Jay Mossbarger, Brent Hopper and Kyle Gray and a colt and gelding pace with Bourbon County (by Always B Miki and bred by Big Als Stables, paid $8.16 to win) in 1:53 3/5 for trainer Tony Dinges and owners William Salmeri, Rick Berks and Steve Elliott.

Miller took a colt and gelding pace with Boomerang (by Downbytheseaside and bred by Diamond Creek Farm, paid $6.02 to win) in 1:54 2/5 for trainer Steve Elliott and owner Marvin Rounick, a filly trot with Ms Prada (by Greenshoe and bred by Marvin Katz, Sam Goldband, Al Libfeld and Black Horse Racing, paid $4.08 to win) in 1:58 for trainer Ron Burke and owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., Beasty LLC., Joseph Di Scala Jr. and J&T Silva- Purnel & Libby and a colt and gelding trot with Gimpanzee Dancer (by Gimpanzee and bred by co-owner Derek Ivany, paid $4.00 to win) in 1:57 for co-owner/trainer Chris Beaver.

Rounding out the victors were pacing filly Caviart Delight (by Always B Miki, bred by co-owner Caviart Farms, paid $7.52 to win), who tallied in 1:53 4/5 for driver Andy McCarthy, trainer Tony Alagna and co-owner Alagna Racing LLC. and filly trotter Yo Tillie (by Tactical Landing, bred by Gbw Breeding Farms and Black Creek Farm, paid $4.12 to win), who prevailed in 1:55 3/5 for owner/trainer/driver Verlin Yoder.
