More than $1.4 million carried over into Sunday’s sequence of Churchill Downs' Derby City Six.

Churchill Downs’ Derby City Six, a jackpot-style Pick 6 that had to be paid out on Sunday’s card, was worth $9,524.28.

Jackpot-style bets usually pay the bulk of the betting pool if there’s only one winning ticket, but the entire pool of wagers on such bets has to be paid out on the closing day of a race meet, as Sunday was. The Derby City Six, which has a 20-cent base bet, wasn’t hit again Saturday and more than $1.4 million carried over into Sunday’s sequence, races 6-11. The total pool for the bet was more than $7.1 million.

The races were won, in order, by Romeo at 8-1, Percy’s Bar at 3-1, Will Take It at 12-1, Pin Up Pin Up Betty at 4-5, Verifire at 5-2, and Massarat at 5-2.
