Leonard and Jon Green’s D.J. Stable will offer a curated selection from its bloodstock holdings at this fall’s Keeneland November breeding stock sale, which begins Nov. 4.
The specific offerings from the stable, which will all be handled by Taylor Made Sales, as agent, will be revealed in the coming weeks. In a release, Leonard Green stressed that this reduction was planned as a one-time event. D.J. Stable will continue to be active in racing and at future sales – and, in fact, has made several purchases at yearling sales this summer.
“This is a one-time offering – strategic and deliberate, not something we plan to do annually,” Leonard Green said. “From a business perspective, there’s no better time to capitalize on opportunities in the breeding industry."
D.J. Stable has bred and raced a number of top-level performers on its own and in various partnerships. Its top runners include Eclipse Award champion juvenile fillies Jaywalk and Wonder Wheel. This year, the stable’s top runners include homebred Nitrogen, a Sovereign Award champion last year and multiple graded stakes winner this year, who is entered in Saturday’s Grade 1 Alabama at Saratoga; and classic-placed Grade 1 winner Sandman, a colt it races in partnership with St. Elias Stable, West Point Thoroughbreds, and CJ Stables.
“D.J. Stable has been developing their broodmare operation for decades,” Taylor Made’s Mark Taylor said. “This is a unique opportunity for buyers to access quality bloodstock and turnkey mares who can offer an immediate return on investment in 2026 and beyond.”
