DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Saturday, April 10, 2025

Barbara D. Livingston
First post for Gulfstream racing is scheduled for 12:50 p.m. ET on Saturday.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

1:06 PIM 3rd CLARE COURT (#7, 10-1) has had considerable trouble running in dirt sprints in the first three starts of her career, but there's a ton of evidence in her pedigree suggesting that this turf mile could be a huge help; sire Collected never ran on turf, but in a smaller sample size, his progeny have done better in turf routes than in any other discipline (58-for-359, 16%); her only half-sibling on the dam's side is Massif, a stakes runner who raced exclusively on grass; in the past year, Meyers is 3-for-13 with runners making their first start on turf (23%, $6.35 ROI). – Patrick Moquin | Get PPs for this race

1:17 MTH 2nd CASSIE'S VAULT's (#9, 6-1) dam, Prancing Warrior, won four races, including her own career debut, all of them dirt sprints; this filly is making her first start but she seems to be training well toward her debut, with a couple of those works suggesting she'll show some speed right out of the box. – Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race

2:21 BAQ 3rd TARPAULIN (#5, 5-1) was well-backed and scored convincingly when shipped here to debut for a tag in March, though he didn't have some kind of easy trip en route to winning that race; protected for the second start with forward to go. – Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race

2:39 WO 4th READY TO COLLECT (#7, 6-1) has been working right along for a trainer whose first runner at the meet was live. He's protected by waiver in his first outing since ending up fourth at this $25K non-two class Oct. 24 and might not need one. – Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race

3:11 MTH 6th JEWEL OF THE OCEAN's (#6, 6-1) dam was a stakes-placed router and this runner is kin to five minor winners; she's another from the barn of trainer Chuck Spina, who also has a firster in today's 2nd race, and if Cassie's Vault wins (or even runs well) in that spot this filly's stock rises, as it seems these two have been working in company. – Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race

3:29 BAQ 5th There appears to be a chance that this pace gets competitive, which would bring horses like CENTAVO (#7, 12-1) into the mix at a price. CENTAVO's most recent win came back in February when rallying from off the pace to score an upset, and he also won twice routing early last year, both times from off the pace at big prices; cuts back again after getting wired going longer two weeks ago. – Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race

3:34 GP 6th NONNA’S LOVE (#5, 7-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Get PPs for this race

3:55 PIM 8th BOSS IS A PAL (#2, 9-2) is a DRF Best bet (Patrick Moquin). | Get PPs for this race

4:11 GP 7th BON VIVANT (#7, 9-2) was stuck on the rail in her debut so this is much better. This filly got some play in said debut and should improve second time racing. Team Joseph is 24% with their second time maidens. – Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race

4:50 WO 8th FORTY N FIVE (#3, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Ron Gierkink). | Get PPs for this race

5:46 BAQ 9th SERVING TIME (#9, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). | Get PPs for this race

5:51 GP 10th CIBORIO (#12, 12-1) is by a 0 for 1 debut sire (all sire stats are for 2YO's only) and a new turf sire (turf sire stats are for all runners). His dam was un-raced. Lone sib is 10-1-0-2 and earned 29K (2-0-0-0 on the green). Turf Tomlinson is strong at 344 but what we like best is that 2nd best of 29 turf drill on April 11th. – Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race

6:46 BAQ 11th VASSIMO (#1, 5-1) appeared to get out-paced in a pair of Derby preps at Fair Grounds after looking good in his first two starts, and he was also wide in a race that was dominated by inside runners in the Louisiana Derby last time; lands in a race that projects to be run at a more moderate pace as he ships to NY, and he drew perfectly on the inside; finished off those first two wins as though added distance would not be an issue. – Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race
