Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
1:00 KEE 1st (If ALWAYS PRACTICAL, (#5, 8-1) can handle dirt, she gets a good setup on a signficant class drop and wins - but that "if" is everything. Did work on dirt over the winter at FG, and if she totally floundered, why even try this? Connections gave a look on Tapeta last out just to make sure they weren't missing anything before spotting her aggressively. – Marcus Hersh
1:03 LRL 3rd GREAT ARTIST (#1A, 9-2) is making his debut with a lot of interesting peripherals; while many of the firsters in this race boast turf pedigrees, many of them seem more likely to have success going a little longer; 3-year-olds and up by Great Notion win 16% of the time on debut, and the sire has produced multiple graded stakes winners in turf sprints; Capuano doesn't send out many firsters with intent but this one is a little different from his usual debutants. – Patrick Moquin
1:30 LRL 4th ISLAND DREAM GIRL (#11, 8-1) seemed poised to make a winning move last time out but folded while running between horses; it seems like she wasn't on the right end of that field near the front, as she was not the only reputable runner to throw in the towel in that race; her start before that against a weaker field was overwhelming and puts her squarely in the mix here, though it might suit her better to sit off the leaders more this time around. – Patrick Moqiun
2:10 GP 3rd MAX N FIFO (#9, 9-2) comes off far and away a career best effort and back a bit quick but should sit another nice stalkers trip from his outside draw, might be along if able to repeat that last one. – Mike Welsch
2:56 OP 4th DAILY GRIND (#5, 5-1) was second last out to a quality kind of winner. – Mary Rampellini
3:50 AQU 6th SPEIGHTFUL LILY (#4, 6-1) might never get back to the 95 Beyer she earned for her impressive debut victory, though she has run well in her five starts since while racing sporadically; she dominated on the lead two back, though she doesn’t need that trip to be effective, and she held her own in a tough running of the Broadway last time. – Mike Beer
4:15 GP 7th VAMOS VIEJO (#3, 30-1) drops another notch, returns to preferred surface, has held own with better over the surface in the past. Might offer some value in extremely wide open turf sprint. – Mike Welsch
5:16 KEE 9th MISSED THE CUT (#9, 6-1) had no chance given his trip last out in the Mac Diarmida, a race he probably needed to shake off rust starting for the first time since June. A lost summer and fall after getting in over his head facing Euros in the Hardwicke, a high-level race for a Group 2, and will find this level of competition much more to his liking. Second in the 2024 Elkhorn to the Godolphin horse Silver Knott, who revealed himself in that start a better horse going 1 1/2 miles than middle distances on turf. Decent break and he takes up a good stalking position. – Marcus Hersh |
5:48 KEE 10th SAN SIRO (#1, 9-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Marcus Hersh).
