Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
11:59 GP 2nd SANTOS TO WILSON (#7, 10-1) has chased AVANT GLORY home on a couple of earlier occasions but holding form extremely well right now and perhaps capable of upsetting his nemesis with the right trip under red hot Paco. – Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race
12:10 LRL 1st ECCENTRIC (#1, 4-1) was a 15-1 winner in December, inheriting the lead and desperately hanging on in a $40,000 claiming race; she returned off a layoff with a dull performance last month, but Robb tends to give his horses time coming back and she could be sitting on a big one. – Patrick Moquin | Get PPs for this race
1:10 AQU 2nd PISTOL LIZ ABLAZEN (#5, 8-1) had to get on the move early to go after the streaking Adeleke on a controlled pace in that last one, and she paid the price late while still trying gamely to the end; has been in excellent form in her own right, and this pace has a chance to get a little more competitive. – Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race
1:26 GP 5th X Y PRIME (#4, 9-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Welsch). | Get PPs for this race
1:52 OP 4th DEALING JUSTICE (#10, 15-1) has back class to call upon. She's one of the first mounts for Bacon as a journeyman, as his final day with his apprentice allowance was Friday. – Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race
1:56 GP 6th Find it intriguing that Zayas opts to go back on LORENZ (#9, 15-1) rather than keep the mount on recently G2 placed Mac Diarmida in this spot. Looks like he fits with these on best, figures to be a generous price, and did win at both 1 1/4 and 1 1/2 miles in his native Brazil. Worked well for this. – Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race
2:44 AQU 5th SEEKING UNITY (#8, 5-1) has concentrated on shorter races dating back to last summer with some success but his prior two-turn form was also quite good, and he is interesting stretching back out for this off the claim for an underrated trainer; needs his best but he is tactical and has a top effort that puts him in the mix at a fair price, if he can see out the trip. – Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race
4:22 LRL 9th BIG WANDA (#6, 10-1) broke her maiden in her debut on the turf in August but didn't race again until late January, when she made a mild bid but didn't figure after running very wide; have to assume that turf will be the eventual destination later this season, but she definitely needed a race off the layoff; in the past five years, Voss is 3-for-6 with runners making their second start off a layoff between 150 and 200 days. – Patrick Moquin | Get PPs for this race
4:31 AQU 8th SHARE THE LUDT (#13, 9-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). | Get PPs for this race
6:42 GP 14th TAPPAN STREET (#9, 5-1) lightly raced but showed tons of promise when second best stretching around two turns in the Holy Bull. Has been given ample time to recuperate from the effort, recent works look sharp prepping for return at Payson. – Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race
7:10 SA 7th This $16k claiming N2L route is a good spot to take a shot at a price. BIG BET (#2, 10-1) should be every bit that high. Although he misfired his last two starts, his speed figures last summer and fall would be fast enough, and he has never raced at this low level. He was only prepping last out in a turf sprint; his best races are two turns. First time at this level, he can upset with a pressing trip. – Brad Free | Get PPs for this race
7:48 OP 13th SANDMAN (#6, 3-1) moves to a mile and an eighth for the Arkansas Derby and there are reasons to believe he's made for a race like this, from his pedigree to his long stride to his performances in the preps leading up to the meet's final points race for the Kentucky Derby. – Mary Rampellini | Get PPs for this race
8:12 SA 9th Lots of contenders in this N1X sprint including TESSUTO (#6, 6-1), who had a brutal trip last time in a similar spot. He was blocked and shuffled on the turn, blocked on the rail in the stretch, and eliminated. It was a toss race. Runner-up both previous starts at this level, TESSUTO might only need a clean trip to score a minor upset. – Brad Free | Get PPs for this race
