Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.
12:50 GP 1st MAJOR KING (#3, 9-2) ends up in a new barn that is 21% off the claim. This gelding has some back class and perhaps we will see a better effort with the change of scenery. This gelding is proven going a one turn mile and figures a good trip off the two speeds. - Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race
1:10 BAQ 1st SOUL SECRET (#7, 5-1) is 2 for 2 routing on dirt after making an early move and then carrying on to prevail with a slight new Beyer top last month; logically spotted right back off the claim, and her tactical speed plays in this race - Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race
2:20 MTH 4th FEAST (#7, 9-5) makes his third start off the layoff and comes off a deceptively good race at Tampa, pressing the early pace and weakening only late; he's in for the same $5,000 claiming tag but this is actually a drop in class, as he moves from non-winners of two in six months to non-winners of one since November, and he should be well spotted from the start just off possible pacesetters ALWAYS CHARMING and Hot Rod Rumble. - Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race
2:35 BAQ 4th LUCKY AND GORGEOUS (#12, 20-1) had a no-chance trip in her turf debut last summer, then steadied and wound up last when favored in her next start at Saratoga; thought she ran pretty well when showing improved speed in her next turf attempt in August, before reverting to rating tactics and ultimately flattening out going longer the last time she was on the grass over seven months ago; needs a trip from the outside but is interesting at what should be a fair price as she returns to turf and drops back down for her second start off the claim - Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race
2:41 LRL 6th SOCIAL LADY (#2, 7-2) is one of a few here that always seems to run into familiar faces around this level; she got the better of several runners in this field last time out, making the last move on a sloppy track to earn her second victory in her last four starts; she has been in excellent form since Ness claimed her back in December and she has improved in the past adding distance - Patrick Moquin | Get PPs for this race
4:51 MTH 9th OFFALY COOL (#6, 15-1) is the only entrant in this race without a turf win to his credit, but while he spots all of his rivals experience he could well hold a pace advantage in the Cliff Hanger Stakes, as he has proven early foot in a race lacking same; would likely prefer this race being switched to the main track but even if this race stays on the grass he's a threat to steal it, as he ran a decent race the last time he was on this course, two years ago - Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race
5:33 WO 9th MAGICAL TRICK (#2, 5-2) raced wide throughout while closing from fifth to second over a rail-biased track in a slow-paced race when exiting the sidelines three weeks ago. She could finally clear the non-two condition here if things go her way. - Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race
5:45 BAQ 10th CLOCK TOWER (#5, 4-1) has been shopping for a spot recently while checking out some much tougher races before scratching. He has never sprinted on grass, but he owns plenty of early speed, and he exits an underrated effort in a fast-paced Grade 3 last time; better than he looks, and sprinting might work for him. - Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race
8:08 SA 9th SHARP RIDE (#1, 3-1) returns to preferred footing (dirt) as the one to beat. She won this Cal-bred N1X condition two starts back on dirt, then misfired on turf. The inside post is not ideal, but she won a dirt sprint from the rail last summer. There is enough pace here to set up her late rally. 'RIDE is entered for the $20k optional claim tag - Brad Free | Get PPs for this race
