DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Sunday, June 29, 2025

Michael Burns
First post for Woodbine racing is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

1:10 BAQ 2nd DEVILISH GRIN (#4, 5-1) looked pretty good breezing 10.2 before selling for $30k in April. Daredevil is a 16% turf sprint sire, and this female family is all grass, with the first two dams being stakes winners on the surface (second dam Casual Look won the Group 1 English Oaks at Epsom); breezing right along for a trainer off to a good start. – Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race

1:20 MTH 2nd ALLABOUTTHEMONEY (#2, 10-1) was not only against the race flow in his latest, a route that was devoid of pace, but that was also a speed-favoring track, making it nearly impossible to close ground after he was last in the early stages; the Beyers he posted three and four back give him strong credibility with this field and he can be expected to rebound given better racing luck and an improved pace scenario. – Kenny Peck | Get PPs for this race

1:24 GP 2nd EL OREJON (#9, 8-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Scott Ehlers). | Get PPs for this race

2:19 WO 3rd MAKING HIS MARK (#4, 5-1) checked in a non-threatening fifth while taking some action at 5-1 at first asking in a maiden special. The son of Souper Speedy is adding blinkers and Lasix for the drop to OS/$40K company with apprentice Adams back in the saddle. – Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race

3:06 BAQ 6th MITOLE'S GIRL (#7, 6-1) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). | Get PPs for this race

3:38 BAQ 7th CONCORDE SPIRIT (#1, 30-1) was in good form earlier this year when winning twice from off the pace, and just missing in another for twice this claiming price; has been in too tough in recent starts, and might be able to get back on track as he steps back in class for this, particularly in a race that appears to be loaded with speed. – Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race

4:01 GP 7th CURLING ROSE (#10, 8-1) drops in class and does so off improved recent figs. She draws outside and gets a more experienced jockey today in Vasquez. – Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race

4:31 WO 7th SPLIT STRIKE (#1, 8-1) has been working up a storm for his first outing since he was claimed from a front-running second for $12.5K on the Tapeta at Gulfstream March 20. He was competitive on the grass in the past and could parlay a stalking trip into a long-priced score in this five-furlong inner turf N1X. – Ron Gierkink | Get PPs for this race

5:35 GP 10th POSITIVE REVIEW (#7, 5-1) drops in class but this race actually came up good for the level. A stalking trip like many in here neither helps nor hurts. Sire gets 6% debut turf winners. His dam finished third in only turf start and earned 3K. Two of four sibs won on the grass and the other two hit the board. Best turf sib is 12-2-0-2 for 68K. – Scott Ehlers | Get PPs for this race
