DRF's Horse Racing Playbook for Thursday, May 15, 2025

Barbara D. Livingston
First post for Belmont at the Big A racing is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. ET on Thursday.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

2:26 GP 4th HARD SCHOLAR (#5, 7-2) a first time gelding making second start off the layoff and second try at this level. Expecting improved showing at what figures to be square price. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race

3:14 BAQ 5th MAYA PRINCE (#2, 7-2) is a DRF Best Bet (Mike Beer). | Get PPs for this race

3:32 GP 6th PRINCESS BLAKELY (#7, 5-1) just 1 for 23 lifetime but like the fact she turns back to a sprint after stretching out for first time in a long while last month. Turned in strong effort the last time she tried that tactic, could prove upset threat with expected stalking trip from outside post. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race

3:45 BAQ 6th CITY BLOCKS (#3, 5-1) has had her chances already, and has settled for second six times from 13 dirt starts to date, though she has also been kept out of the claiming ranks by her connections; finally gets the class relief she needs while making her 4yo debut back over the course and distance of her lone win to date. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race

4:06 GP 7th The usual suspects gather, trying for a little price with OCONEE LIFE (#10, 12-1) who didn't show best speed last time after chasing much faster in all previous tries. Must come away running from outside post under the young apprentice, might get brave if able to clear off, relax a bit on front end especially getting 10 pound concession from most of the others. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race

4:48 BAQ 8th ANTISOCIAL (#1, 7-2) was the lone first-time starter in the field when chasing to no avail in his career debut on dirt; improved but had no chance with 1/5 winner Keewaydin in his only other start; half-drother to Grade 1 turf winner Keeper Ofthe Stars switches to grass for his 3yo debut. -Mike Beer | Get PPs for this race

5:16 GP 9th ADVERSARY (#5, 5-1) a disappointment when well back off the layoff after eventful beginning last time. Adds blinkers, showed big speed from gate working over demanding strip last week. Worth a second look at what figures to be a little juicier price considering presence of imposing, odds on favorite MIGRATORY in this spot. -Mike Welsch | Get PPs for this race
