Grade 1 winner and producer Panty Raid dead at 21

Grade 1 winner and stakes producer Panty Raid has been euthanized due to the infirmities of old age, owner Godolphin reported on its social media Wednesday evening. The Include mare was 21.

Millionaire Panty Raid won half of her 10 career starts for Glencrest Farm and trainer Todd Pletcher, including the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan on dirt, Grade 1 American Oaks on turf, and Grade 1 Spinster on Polytrack. Purchased for $2.5 million by Godolphin out of the 2008 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall selected mixed sale, she produced four winners from six starters. Her son Proxy, by Tapit, won the Grade 1 Clark and two other graded stakes and placed in three Grade 1 stakes, including a third in the 2023 Breeders’ Cup Classic. Panty Raid also produced Micheline, by Bernardini, winner of the Grade 2 Hillsborough and three other stakes.

Proxy, who retired with more than $2.7 million in earnings, entered stud last year for Darley. Micheline is now in the operation’s broodmare band; she delivered a Curlin colt last year and was bred back to Uncle Mo.
