Harness: 2024 London Classic Yearling Sale comes to a close

Saulsbrook Big Dog, a colt from the first crop of Bulldog Hanover, harness racing's all-time fastest horse, wound up at the top of the board at the 2024 London Classic Yearling Sale, which ended on Wednesday afternoon at The Agriplex at the Western Fair District in London, Ontario.

Selling as HIP 156 and consigned by Princeton Farms Inc., Saulsbrook Big Dog fetched a winning bid of C$150,000 from Jack Darling, who trained and owned Bulldog Hanover during his fantastic career. Saulsbrook Big Dog is a half-brother to several six-figure earners, led by 6-year-old Source Of Pride gelding Saulsbrook Victor (1:48 1/5, C$437,575).

The gross of C$7,015,000 finished down from last year's C$7,759,000, but that can be attributed to the fact that there were 38 more horses sold in 2023. The average of C$28,516 was up 6.8% from a year ago.
