Harness: Bay Of Biscay best in TAB Eureka

The world's richest harness race, the AUD$2.1 million TAB Eureka, was held early Saturday morning U.S. time at Tabcorp Park Menangle in Australia, and the winner was Bay Of Biscay, a 4-year-old by Somebeachsomewhere.

Driven by Cam Hart, Bay Of Biscay took the lead coming to the wire the first time around in the 2,300 meter event and went on to defeat fellow Emma Stewart trainee Fox Dan (Ryan Sanderson). Heistate, driven by trainer Luke McCarthy, came in third.

Stewart, who also won the 2023 Eureka with mare Encipher, trains Bay Of Biscay for an ownership group that includes breeder Alabar Bloodstock. Bay Of Biscay is out of the McArdle mare Nike Franco N, who raced in North America first for Jim King and Joanne Looney-King and then Scott Di Domenico from October 2016 through early 2019. She took a mark of 1:48 in a F&M Preferred Handicap at the Meadowlands.

"We thought so much of him, we ran him as a 3-year-old in the race last year and he was an unlucky second. Everything has been built around coming back to go one better this year and he's done it," Stewart said.
