This year's London Classic Yearling Sale began on Tuesday afternoon with HIPs 1-130 going through the ring at The Agriplex at Western Fair District in London, Ontario.
The top seller was HIP 98 D A Bodacious, who was purchased by W.J. Donovan for C$140,000. From the first Ontario-eligible crop of world champion Cattlewash and bred/consigned by Dean and Ashley Wilson, D A Bodacious is a half-brother to 5-year-old Downbytheseaside gelding Risenshine Seaside (1:48 3/5, $357,844). D A Bodacious's dam is also a full sister to the Dragon Again stallion Custard The Dragon (1:48 1/5, $778,057)

A total of 123 yearlings were sold on Tuesday for an average of C$28,341.46 and a gross of C$3,486,000. The average is up 2.5 percent from last year's opening day of C$27,666, and, while the gross fell from C$3,984,000, it should be noted that 21 more horses were available in 2023 than there were today.
HIPs 131-262 will sell on Wednesday afternoon beginning at 12 p.m. (EDT) to close out the 2024 London Classic Yearling Sale.
