The Midwest Standardbred Horse Sale, which replaced the Hoosier Classic Yearling Sale when that event was purchased by Dana Parham last year, commenced on Thursday at Corteva Coliseum at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
Called the Gold Select Session, the day was led by HIP 136 Ponda Light, a JK Endofanera filly who was purchased by Pat De Long for $125,000. Bred by Jake Schwartz and consignor Pond-A-Acres, Ponda Light is the second filly out of the Somebeachsomewhere mare Sayulita and is a half-sister to Avanti (1:50 1/5, $252,412).
First crop sire Temporal Hanover had half of the six yearling to crack the six-figure mark on Thursday, with HIP 93 Ponda Concorde acquired by Pollack Racing LLC. for $110,000, HIP 147 Ponda Jiggy bought by agent Wrenn Racing for $100,000 and HIP 193 Unburdened grabbed by agent Erv Miller for $100,000.

A total of 198 yearlings sold on Thursday for a gross of $5,143,000 and an average of $26,648.
Coming up on Friday will be the Silver Select Session, and then the sale will wrap up Saturday with the Bronze Session, which is a mixed sale. The action starts at 9 a.m. (EDT) both days.
