Harrah's Hoosier Park: Three-year-olds compete in Circle City Stakes

Operator delivered as the heavy favorite in his Circle City Stakes test

Harrah's Hoosier Park hosted Grand Circuit racing on Friday with divisions of the Circle City Stakes for sophomores.

Driver Kyle Wilfong swept the $24,000 colt and gelding trots, connecting with Operator (by You Know You Do and bred by Christopher Nissley, paid $2.10 to win) in 1:53 3/5 for trainer Jay Hochstetler and owners Connie Hochstetler, Homer Hochstetler, Robert Buddig and Allen Schwartz, and Battle Hill (by Marseille and bred by Galliers Racing LLC., paid $4 to win) in 1:53 1/5 for trainer Matt Burkholder and owner William Hartt.

Trace Tetrick also had a double as he captured the filly trots, worth $20,850 and $21,150, with Divine Thing (by Greenshoe and bred by Crawford Farms, paid $5.20 to win) in 1:53 4/5 for trainer Steve Carter and owner Jay Mossbarger, and Glutes Hanover (by Six Pack and bred by Hanover Soe Farms, paid $5.80 to win) in 1:55 1/5 for owner/trainer Tony Alagna.

John De Long captured both ends of the Circle City late double, taking a $26,700 colt and gelding pace with Sugar Man (by Papi Rob Hanover and bred by Birnam Wood Farms, paid $15.60 to win) in 1:52 2/5 for trainer Brett Pelling and owners David McDuffee, Mel Hartman and Rojan Stables, and the $42,900 filly pace with Can'ttouchthese (by JK Endofanera and bred by owners William C. De Long, William P. De Long and Douglas Riccolo, paid $3.60 to win) in 1:51 3/5 for trainer Roger Welch.

The other $26,400 split for colt and gelding pacers went to The Family Man (by Always A Virgin and bred by Lyndar Stables, paid $12.60 to win) in 1:50 3/5 with Marcus Miller in the bike for owner/trainer Erv Miller and co-owner Never 2 Late Stable.
