HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Haulin Ice, the all-time leading earner among Arkansas-breds with a bankroll of $1.2 million, could make her next start in a turf stakes at Churchill Downs, trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. said.

Haulin Ice won the $250,000 Matron over open company March 27 at Oaklawn. Before that, she surpassed $1 million in earnings with an 11-length romp over statebreds in the track’s $150,000 Downsthedustyroad.

“She’s doing well,” Joseph said. “She’s back in Florida, and there’s a possibility she goes to Churchill Downs [during] Derby week for the turf sprint, the Unbridled Sidney.”

The Grade 2, $500,000 race is for fillies and mares at 5 1/2 furlongs on May 1.

Haulin Ice was just edged in her lone turf start, when she was second by a neck in the Abundantia in December at Gulfstream.
