Hey Nay Nay, a two-time stakes winner in 2025 but beaten in his last three stakes starts, is in the midst of a 60-day vacation at a California farm, trainer John Sadler said last weekend.
Hey Nay Nay was a notable absentee from the $102,000 Pasadena Stakes for 3-years-olds at a mile on turf at Santa Anita on Sunday.
“He’s getting a small vacation, a freshening,” Sadler said.
Owned by Hronis Racing and Iapetus Racing, Hey Nay Nay has won 3 of 6 starts and earned $198,000. He won the Tyro Stakes at five furlongs on turf by seven lengths at Monmouth Park last August and the Grade 3 Del Mar Juvenile Turf at a mile a month later.
Last fall, Hey Nay Nay was 10th in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf and third by a length in the Grade 3 Cecil B. DeMille Stakes at the Del Mar autumn meeting.
In his lone start this winter, Hey Nay Nay was second by a neck to Greenwich Village in the Baffle Stakes at about 6 1/2 furlongs on the hillside turf course at Santa Anita on Jan. 25. Greenwich Village returned to win the Pasadena.
