SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Immersive and Quietside, the one-two finishers from Saturday’s Grade 1 Spinaway Stakes at Saratoga, could meet again in the Grade 1, $600,000 Alcibiades at Keeneland on Oct. 4, their connections indicated Sunday morning.
Immersive, a daughter of Nyquist trained by Brad Cox for Godolphin Racing, rallied past Quietside in the last 30 yards over a sealed, muddy Saratoga main track to win the Spinaway by 1 1/4 lengths. That victory made Immersive 2 for 2 with both wins sprinting in Saratoga.
Cox believes Immersive is well equipped to handle two turns. The Alcibiades is run at 1 1/16 miles around two turns.
“I think that’s what she’s really meant to do, is be a two-turn filly,” Cox said Sunday morning. “Obviously, breaking her maiden three-quarters and winning a Grade 1 seven-eighths just shows how much class she has.”
Immersive, who earned an 84 Beyer Speed Figure for the Spinaway win, was scheduled to ship to Churchill Downs on Tuesday with the majority of horses Cox has stabled in Saratoga.

Quietside, a daughter of Malibu Moon, who won her debut here by 6 1/4 lengths, finished four lengths clear of the rest of the field in the Spinaway. She had a four-wide trip most of the way around under Luis Saez, made the lead at the head of the lane before giving way late.
“She ran a winning effort, unfortunately she got caught at the wire,” trainer John Ortiz said. “To me, if I ever have to get beat, I’d rather get beat getting caught. It was an honest effort. I don’t think we’ve seen the best of her.”
Ortiz said the Alcibiades is a race he’ll have on his radar. She will be shipped from Saratoga to Churchill Downs on Thursday and move over to Keeneland prior to that meet starting on Oct. 4.
