Remington Park closes its meet next Friday, Dec. 13, and the final race of the season will be the $300,000 Springboard Mile. It drew 12 horses and will award points for the Kentucky Derby.
The race will be showcased on a card of six stakes. First post is 5 p.m. Central. The Springboard Mile has a scheduled post of 10:26 p.m.
Jolly Samurai and Mister Omaha, who have won two stakes each this season at Remington, will face a field that includes Coal Battle, winner of the Jean Lafitte at Delta Downs; Dr Ruben M, a maiden special weight winner last out at Santa Anita; and Speed King, a debut winner at Churchill Downs with a field-best Beyer Speed Figure of 82.
The $75,000 Toby Keith – which was previously called the Trapeze – is for 2-year-old fillies at a mile. Glee, a 15-length winner of the E.L. Gaylord at Remington, returns to Oklahoma City for the Toby Keith. The race honors the late country music artist, breeder, and owner who raced at Remington.

U.S. Army will defend his title in the Jeffrey Hawk Memorial against a field that includes $1.6 million earner Silver Prospector. Miss Code West, the horse of the meet last season at Remington, runs in the Useeit, and multiple stakes winner Flat Hanby goes in the Jim Thorpe. The card also includes the She’s All In.
◗ Prairie Meadows has been approved to race 80 dates next year, from May 9 to Sept. 27, according to a press release from the Iowa track. The first 20 dates – through June 14 – will be Thoroughbred-only cards, while the final 60 days will feature Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses.
◗ Jockey Deshawn Parker will be wintering at Sam Houston, according to Cody Autrey, the agent who will have his book at the Texas meet that is scheduled to open Jan. 3.
