The 2026 WNBA Draft begins tonight in New York, with several players from Kentucky and Louisville programs among those hoping to make the jump to the professional level.

Following strong college seasons and deep NCAA Tournament runs, multiple standouts from both schools are projected to be selected or earn opportunities at the next level.

Morgan headlines Kentucky’s class

All eyes for Kentucky are on guard Tonie Morgan, who emerged as one of the SEC’s top playmakers during her final season.

After transferring from Georgia Tech, Morgan stepped into a leading role and averaged 13.8 points and 7.9 assists per game, helping the Wildcats reach the Sweet 16. Her ability to control tempo and create scoring opportunities has made her a strong candidate to be selected in the middle rounds.

Mock drafts have linked Morgan to teams such as the Seattle Storm and the Los Angeles Sparks.

Teammate Teonni Key is also expected to draw attention. The center averaged 11.4 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while anchoring Kentucky’s interior defense. Her rebounding and rim protection could make her a valuable late-round addition.

Ziegler carries Louisville momentum

Louisville forward Laura Ziegler enters the draft after a standout season in the ACC.

A transfer from Saint Joseph’s, Ziegler quickly adapted to the higher level of competition, averaging 11 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists. Her all-around skill set and versatility have positioned her as a potential late pick.

One projection has Ziegler landing with the reigning champion Las Vegas Aces, a team known for developing frontcourt depth.

Depth options and next steps

Additional Kentucky players remain on the radar as possible selections or training camp invites, including guard Jordan Obi and forward Amelia Hassett.

While not all prospects are expected to be drafted, many could still compete for roster spots through camp invites or continue their careers overseas.
