Komorebino Omoide, who was just edged in the $250,000 Texas Turf Classic last month at Lone Star Park, could remain on the grass for his next start, trainer Robertino Diodoro said Friday.
The horse, who earlier in the meet won the Grade 3, $400,000 Steve Sexton Mile on dirt, ran second by a half-length in the Texas Turf Classic.
“He’s most likely going back on the turf at Ellis Park,” Diodoro said.

Diodoro said the $250,000 Kentucky Downs Preview Mint Millions Turf Mile on Aug. 2 is the probable next start for the son of California Chrome, who races for Perry Martin. The other option, he said, is the $200,000 West Virginia Governor’s Stakes on Aug. 3 at Mountaineer.
Komorebino Omoide earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 93 in the Texas Turf Classic, just two points below the 95 he earned in the Sexton Mile. Diodoro said jockey Ramon Vazquez, who was aboard for both races, felt the horse got along quite well on turf.
“I talked to Ramon several times about it,” said Diodoro.
Komorebino Omoide was set to arrive Friday in Kentucky.
