We’ll take a small shot at the pick five at Aqueduct, essentially looking to get alive to our single in the final leg with a $50 caveman ticket.
RACE 1 – Union River (1) did not have Lasix for his first and only turf race as a second-out maiden; he has been in the money eight straight on dirt. Crafty Colonel (8) has been vastly improved since blinkers came on; DRF Formulator’s incremental pace feature shows he ran the last quarter-mile in 22.51 seconds to beat maidens last out.
RACE 2 – Tough to trust Geaux Mets (1) or The Big Deluxe (5), but one of them figures to take this New York-bred maiden claimer off the class drop.
RACE 3 – Only five entered this optional claimer on turf, but a case can be made for any of them.
RACE 4 – We’ll use five of these New York-bred maidens: Wine Not (2), Noon Monsoon (4), The J Y (6), Gorelli (7), and Bedside Blues (8).
RACE 5 – In her maiden win five weeks ago, Bag of Tricks (6) surpassed the Beyer Speed Figure par (70) for this preliminary allowance level; she is nicely drawn on the outside in a short field and need only hold form.
At 50 cents a combination, a $50 ticket: 1, 8 with 1, 5 with ALL with 2, 4, 6, 7, 8 with 6.
