HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Madaket Road will scratch from Saturday’s $3 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational at Gulfstream Park, per Tom Ryan, Managing Partner for SF Racing. Ryan and SF Racing are among Madaket Road's many owners, a group that includes Starlight Racing and Madaket Stables.
Madaket Road was one of three California-based horses who shipped to Gulfstream Park earlier this week for the Grade 1 Pegasus World Cup. The 4-year-old son of Quality Road, who came here last winter to finish fourth in the Grade 1 Florida Derby, is trained by Bob Baffert, who was seeking a record fourth Pegasus victory on Saturday.
“This is part of the highs and lows of racing you have to endure,” said Ryan. “The horse is okay. We haven’t really isolated the problem yet. It looks like something in the foot. It appears mild and not anything to be overly concerned about, but Bob said he is not 100 percent, and he is ultra-conservative when it comes to these types of things.”
Lightning Tones is the first horse listed on the also-eligible list for the Pegasus World Cup Invitational.
