Classic-placed Grade 1 winner Mindframe will stand at Claiborne Farm in Paris, Ky., upon his eventual retirement from racing, the farm announced Sunday. The 4-year-old son of Constitution currently races for Repole Stable and St. Elias Stable, which purchased him in partnership as a yearling.
Mindframe, trained by Todd Pletcher, has never been worse than second in six career starts. In just his third lifetime outing, he was beaten a half-length in the 2024 Belmont Stakes at Saratoga, then was second again to Belmont winner Dornoch in the Grade 1 Haskell.
This year, Mindframe has come out to win both his starts, taking the Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Mile and, most recently, the Grade 1 Churchill Downs Stakes on the Kentucky Derby undercard, defeating a number of prominent runners in a photo finish.
“Mindframe is the kind of rare talent that has the ability to be a breed-shaping stallion,” Claiborne president Walker Hancock said in a press release. “He has been brilliant in every start, he is versatile from seven to 10 furlongs, and is battle-tested against the very best of his class. His pedigree, physical presence, and proven ability at the highest level make him an exceptional addition to our stallion roster.”
Claiborne introduced Mike Repole and Vinnie Viola’s Grade 1 winner Bright Future at stud this year.
Claiborne’s “legacy in shaping the breed is second to none, and we’re excited for what the future holds,” Repole said in the press release. “Because we believe in Mindframe, Vinnie and I have stayed in for a significant share and will be supporting him with top-class mares.”
