Barbara D. Livingston
Into Mischief will have a filly as one of the top prospects at the Texas 2-year-olds in training sale beginning Wednesday.

A filly by Into Mischief and offspring from the first crops of By My Standards, No Parole, Tacitus and Yaupon are among the offerings at the Texas 2-year-olds in training sale April 2 at Lone Star Park.

The breeze show is Monday. It begins at 8 a.m. Central.

The catalog for the Wednesday sale features 100 young racing prospects. The auction will begin at 10 a.m. in the sales pavilion that has been renamed for the retiring Mary Ruyle in honor of her 36 years with the auction’s co-sponsor, the Texas Thoroughbred Association.

Some of the notable 2-year-olds in the book include the daughter of perennial leading sire Into Mischief, who sells as Hip No. 53. She is out of the stakes-winning mare Arrifana. Other hips of interest include No. 48, a Midshipman colt who is a half-brother to millionaire Kobe’s Back, and No. 63, a Shancelot filly who is a half-sister to Canadian champion sprinter and millionaire Calgary Cat.

The first-crop stallions represented in the catalog include Grade 1 winners No Parole and Yaupon, Grade 2 winners By My Standards, Modernist and Tacitus, and stakes winner Shoplifted.

There also is an array of established and young sires with offspring in the sale, including Union Rags, Goldencents, Maclean’s Music, Classic Empire, Star Guitar, Omaha Beach, Aurelius Maximus, Code West, American Freedom, Hard Spun, Tapiture and El Deal.

*** The Texas Thoroughbred Association has announced the Texas summer yearling sale is scheduled for Aug. 26 at Lone Star. There also will be a mixed session.
