HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Mischievous Gal worked her way past a stubborn Dashingly for a half-length win in the $145,000 Majestic overnight stakes on Thursday at Oaklawn Park. It was another 2 1/2 lengths back in third to Absinthe.
The race was for fillies and mares and it opened the final week of the meet that ends Saturday.
Mischievous Gal ($13) stalked the pace as Itzel and Dashingly dueled through fractions of 21.68 seconds for the opening quarter and 45.36 for the half-mile. Mischievous Gal came with a strong run through the stretch and covered six furlongs on a fast track 1:10.16.
Cristian Torres was aboard the winner for trainer Matt Williams.
Mischievous Gal is a daughter of Practical Joke who races for Chris Duggan. She earned $76,125 for her win in the Majestic, which improved her record to 9 for 20 for earnings of $415,185.
Pharoah’s Heart acted up in the starting gate and was a late scratch, which delayed the start of the Majestic.
* The Arkansas Racing Commission approved a 64-date meet for Oaklawn next season during a meeting Thursday. The season will open Dec. 12, 2025 and run through May 2, 2026. Oaklawn will feature a four-day race week in February, March, and April in a departure from its three-day race week standard. There also will be a three week break from racing in January.
