Oversubscribed, Fast Market highlight Prat's five-win day

Chelsea Durand
Oversubscribed returned $3.06 in winning the Forever Together at Aqueduct on Sunday.

Jockey Flavien Prat swept both stakes on the Sunday card at Aqueduct as part of a five-win day in which he captured the $150,000 Forever Together aboard Oversubscribed and the Grade 3, $175,000 Pebbles on Fast Market.

The feat comes just weeks after Prat set a record for rider wins on a card at a New York Racing Association track with seven on Nov. 2. The record came on the closing-day card of the Belmont meet at Aqueduct.

The Forever Together had been scheduled for last week, but was moved to Sunday’s card after high winds forced the cancellation of racing last Sunday. It was for fillies and mares on turf, while the Pebbles was for 3-year-old fillies on the same surface.

Oversubscribed ($3.06), who was making her first start in more than a year, settled in third behind leader Spinning Colors, who was pressed by Malleymoo through fractions of 23.95 seconds for the opening quarter, 48.93 for the half-mile and 1:13.04 for six furlongs. Oversubscribed rode the rail until late on the final turn, where Prat angled her out and she rallied for a half-length win over stablemate Malleymoo. The winner covered 1 1/16 miles on firm turf in 1:43.58.

“She broke very forwardly and they went running going into the first turn, but then they slowed down quite a bit,” Prat told the New York Racing Association publicity department. “I was pleased to be in the first group. When I tipped her out, she gave me a good run and got tired in the last eighth of a mile, but she managed to get the job done.

“I thought turning for home that I had a lot of horse, but the track is a bit sticky and she hasn’t run for so long, so naturally, she got a little tired.”

Oversubscribed and Malleymoo are trained by Chad Brown. Oversubscribed is a daughter of Too Darn Hot who races for Klaravich Stables. Last year, she won the Wild Applause at the Belmont meet at Aqueduct and was second in the Pebbles.

Oversubscribed has now won 3 of 7 starts for earnings of $275,765.

Fast Market ($5.08) trailed early in the Pebbles as Love You Anyway dictated the pace through fractions of 24.28 seconds for the opening quarter, 49.12 for the half-mile and 1:13.11 for six furlongs. The eventual winner came four wide into the stretch and accelerated, getting past the pacesetter in the later stages while covering 1 1/16 miles on firm ground in 1:43.22.

“I was traveling good and she gave me a good turn of foot,” Prat told NYRA. “I thought when I got clear that she was going to get there, and then the horse [Love You Anyway] kind of shifted out and she looked at her a little bit, but then she regrouped and went on. She’s very handy and does everything right.”

Fast Market won by 1 1/2 lengths over Love You Anyway. It was another half-length back in third to Sweet Treasure.

John Terranova II trains Fast Market for Hit the Bid Stable. She is a daughter of Volatile and was winning her first stakes in the Pebbles. She is now 2 for 11 for earnings of $228,788.

Prat’s first win on the card came in the second race with Salute to Service ($6.16). He proceeded to win the third race with New York Scrappy ($9.26), then the fourth with Oversubscribed, the eighth with Fast Market and the ninth with Apalta ($3.72.)

Racing resumes Friday with first post of 12:10 p.m. Eastern.
