Flavien Prat, champion jockey of 2024 and currently third in the standings at Saratoga through Wednesday, will ride at Del Mar on July 26.
Prat is booked to ride Nysos in the Grade 2 San Diego Handicap at 1 1/16 miles, and World Record in the Grade 1 Bing Crosby Stakes at six furlongs.
Nysos, trained by Bob Baffert, is rated as a leading older horse and has won 4 of 5 starts, including the Grade 3 Triple Bend Stakes at seven furlongs by 5 1/2 lengths at Santa Anita on May 31.
World Record is one of three stakes runners trained in Kentucky by Rodolphe Brisset who are bound for Del Mar in coming weeks.
World Record, a 4-year-old colt by Gun Runner, finished second by a length in the Grade 3 Aristides Stakes at six furlongs at Churchill Downs on May 31 after setting a scorching pace.
The $400,000 Bing Crosby Stakes is the richest annual sprint of the year in California. The winner receives a fees-paid berth to the Breeders’ Cup Sprint, which will be run at Del Mar on Nov. 1.
Brisset said on Thursday that the Bing Crosby has been a consideration for months.
“That was a race that we kept our eyes on,” he said. “We can see if he likes the track and see if we want to come back in the fall.”
Brisset also plans to start Green Light in the Grade 2 Eddie Read Stakes at 1 1/8 miles on turf on July 27, and Royal Spa in the Grade 1 Clement Hirsch Stakes at 1 1/16 miles on dirt for fillies and mares on Aug. 2.
Green Light, third in two stakes for 3-year-olds on turf last year, won his 2025 debut in an allowance race at 1 1/16 miles on turf at Churchill Downs on June 20.
Royal Spa won the Heavenly Cause Stakes at Laurel and the Grade 3 Shawnee Stakes at Churchill Downs in consecutive starts in April and May. Royal Spa was second by three lengths to 2024 Horse of the Year Thorpedo Anna in the Grade 2 Fleur de Lis Stakes at Churchill Downs on June 28.
