Fallout won by double digits in International Stallion Stakes action on Saturday afternoon

Metro Pace champion Fallout blew away his rivals in the third of three $100,300 International Stallion Series flights for 2-year-old colts and geldings on Saturday afternoon at The Red Mile. D A Love Boat and American Son were the other victors.

Driven by Tim Tetrick, Fallout was third at the 26 4/5 quarter set by Ayeaye Captain Deo (Andy McCarthy) but attacked two-wide in the backstretch and took charge nearing the 54 2/5 half-mile marker. Fallout began to get away from the rest of the field coming to the 1:21 2/5 three-quarters and then poured it on in a 27 2/5 final kicker, widening to 10 1/2 lengths ahead of Tom Horn (David Miller) in a 1:48 4/5 performance. Delray Beach (Yannick Gingras) rallied from ninth to third in the last quarter.

"He's a pretty cool horse, man," Tetrick said after the race. "He gets over the ground real easy, likes his work and he's a lot of fun to sit behind. And he looks like [Captaintreacherous], feels like him and works his ears the same. He's just like his daddy."

A Captaintreacherous colt, Fallout was bred by Brittany Farms and is trained by Tony Alagna for owners Robert Leblanc, Pryde Stables Inc. and Caviart Farms. Fallout has a record of 4-2-1 from nine efforts, has pocketed $486,750 and paid $2.24 to win as the 1-9 favorite.

Back in the opening division, D A Love Boat (Gingras) led early but was overtaken by Strangerinthenight (Miller) beyond the 27 2/5 quarter. D A Love Boat continued to get shuffled back to fourth as Thirsty Thursday (Matt Kakaley) brushed to the point racing to the 54 1/5 half, and then he yielded to 1-9 favorite Louprint (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) on the final bend. Gingras then elected to make a second move with D A Love Boat and sent him first-over before Louprint went through three-quarters in 1:22.

D A Love Boat, a 26-1 shot, got closer to Louprint with every stride through the lane, and although Louprint was game, he couldn't hold on at the wire, coming up a nose short in a 1:48 4/5 mile. Boomerang (Dexter Dunn) collected third.

Owned by trainer Jack Darling, D A Love Boat is a gelded son of Captain Crunch. The Dean and Ashley Wilson-bred has a pair of victories and a second from six appearances, has banked $71,589 and returned $54.84 to win.

"To be honest, I am as surprised as anybody," Darling said. "He's been a nice colt, just has always had bad posts and things didn't work out. But he sure came through today."

American Son (Dunn) attacked out of third past the 27 4/5 quarter in his tilt and wrestled control away from Banderas (James MacDonald) prior to the 54 3/5 half-mile marker. After that, American Son got to three-quarters in 1:22 3/5 and used a 27 1/5 last panel to win by a neck in 1:49 4/5. No Tresspassing (Scott Zeron) closed in 26 seconds flat from second-over but ran out of racetrack in an eye-catching runner-up result and Banderas held off fellow Alagna trainee World Beater (Todd McCarthy) for third.

"I'm pretty high on this colt," trainer Chris Ryder said. "He hasn't won the last couple of starts, but he got there today and he's going to have a big future."

Another Brittany Farms-bred, American Son is an American Ideal colt trained by Ryder for owner Henderson Farms. American Son made his fourth trip to the winner's circle in seventh trip behind the gate, he has put away $175,150 and he paid $3.18 to win as the favorite.
