Super Chapter and Champagne Room tallied in $80,000 Kentucky Championship Series races for 3-year-old male trotters and pacing fillies on Sunday evening at The Red Mile.
Te Quiero Lindy (Andy Miller) and Mr Mouton (Ake Svanstedt) put up the fractions of 28 1/5, 57 1/5 and 1:25 4/5 in the trot while Super Chapter (Dexter Dunn) and Go Dog Go (Todd McCarthy), the two favorites in the event, worked up first- and second-over. Go Dog Go spoiled his covered trip by making a break past three-quarters, but Super Chapter, who had gone off-stride himself most recently in Lexington, minded his manners through the stretch and was able to wear down a game Mr Mouton to win by a head in 1:52 1/5. Monserrate (Yannick Gingras) collected third.
A Chapter Seven colt, Super Chapter was bred by Hanover Shoe Farms, who shares ownership of the Marcus Melander trainee with Jeff Snyder and Art Pronti. He has a summary of 12-4-1 from 20 starts, has pocketed $1,259,765 and paid $2.72 to win.
In the filly pace Looksgoodinloulou (Gingras) chopped out the 28 second quarter, 55 4/5 half and 1:24 2/4 three-quarters, but Champagne Room (Andy McCarthy), who sat on the pylons in fourth, rallied up the inside in 25 3/5 and won by a length and a quarter in 1:50 2/5. Looksgoodinloulou was second, followed by Unreasonable (Marcus Miller).
Noel Daley trains Champagne Room, a daughter of Papi Rob Hanover, for owners Patricia Stable, L A Express & Sjoblom Inc. and Michael Dolan. She has four wins, a second and five thirds from 17 trips behind the gate, has put away $170,094 and returned $21.18 to win as a 9-1 shot.
