Sacrosanct, the New York-bred champion 2-year-old of 2024 who has not raced since an eighth-place finish in the Grade 3 Gotham Stakes in March, is now with trainer Linda Rice after having previously run for Brad Cox.
On Sunday, Sacrosanct had his first work since the Gotham, going a half-mile in 48.76 seconds over the Belmont Park training track. Sacrosanct worked with the unraced 3-year-old filly Dia Por Dia.
“Very nice, in hand, on the bridle – the rider had a good hold of him,” Rice said.
As a 2-year-old, Sacrosanct won the Bertram F. Bongard, Sleepy Hollow, and the $500,000 Great White Way division of the New York Stallion Series.
Rice also trains the New York-bred 2-year-old filly champion With the Angels, who went 4 for 4 last year but has not run yet in 2025. With the Angels has had six workouts since mid-August and has been entered as a main track-only runner in several races that have not come off the turf.
Sheila Rosenblum is part-owner of both Sacrosanct and With the Angels.
