Santa Anita: Saturday card starts with two-day $78,330 pick six carryover

Santa Anita has a two-day carryover of $78,330 for Saturday’s $2 pick six.

Consecutive wins by the outsiders Midnight Mammoth ($21.20) and Atomic Drop ($40.40) in the sixth and seventh races on Friday at Santa Anita have led to a two-day carryover of $78,330 in Saturday’s $2 pick six.

There also is a carryover of $18,781 on Saturday in the $1 Sunset Pick 6, which encompasses the final three races at Gulfstream Park and Santa Anita.

On Saturday, the Santa Anita pick six covers the fourth through ninth races on a nine-race program that begins at 12:30 p.m. Pacific. All of the races are for California-breds.

The pick six races include a $20,000 claimer for maidens at six furlongs, the $175,000 Unusual Heat Turf Classic at 1 1/8 miles on turf, an allowance race at six furlongs, the $175,000 California Cup Oaks for 3-year-old fillies at a mile on turf, the $175,000 California Cup Derby for 3-year-olds at 1 1/16 miles on dirt, and the $125,000 Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Turf Sprint at about 6 1/2 furlongs on the hillside turf course for fillies and mares.

Before scratches, the pick six races have fields of 10, 8, 10, 8, 11, and 9.
