Harrisburg Heist picked up his first Ohio Sires Stakes victory with a lifetime-best 1:49 win for driver Chris Page and trainer Ron Burke in Saturday night's $100,000 clash for sophomore colt and gelding pacers at Eldorado Scioto Downs.
Starting from post eight, Page floated out and landed Harrisburg Heist in fifth while favored Jon I Love Dat (Dan Noble) sped to the point in a blistering 25 2/5 quarter. Jon I Love Dat kept the tempo spicy to the half in 53 3/5 as Harrisburg Heist vacated the pylons and flushed out Ohohoh Im On Fire (Austin Hanners) from third to sit in the second-over spot.
Ohohoh Im On Fire suffered broken equipment, went wide and left Harrisburg Heist uncovered as Jon I Love Dat ripped through three-quarters in 1:21, but despite losing the helmet he was following, Harrisburg Heist powered by Jon I Love Dat late on the final bend. From there, Harrisburg Heist opened up with every stride to the wire, defeating pocket-sitter Downbythewaer (Chris Lems) by three lengths. Jon I Love Dat wound up third.
