CYPRESS, Calif. - A brilliant start gave Shaken Goin On an insurmountable lead in the early yards of Saturday’s $430,000 Los Alamitos Oaks for 3-year-old fillies.
Starting from the inside post in a field of 10, Shaken Goin On caught the eye from the start and quickly led by 1 1/4 lengths, an advantage she sustained to the finish of the 400-yard race.
Ridden by Justine Klaiber, Shaken Goin On won by three-quarters of a length over 14-1 Powerful Wise Lady. Sent off favored in a competitive field, Shaken Goin On ($9) was timed in 19.80 seconds, much quicker than her trial race time of 20.02 seconds on March 1.
Beach Walk (7-1) finished third. Beach Walk was the fastest qualifier from four trials on March 1, finishing in 19.92 seconds. Shaken Goin On had the fifth-fastest qualifying time.
Shaken Goin On, an Oklahoma-bred by Freightrain B, races for owners and breeders James Sills and Abel Flores and trainer Eddie Willis. She was supplemented to the Los Alamitos Oaks for $12,000 last December.
In the winner’s circle on Saturday, Willis said Shaken Goin On will have a break this spring and is likely to race this summer in stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Ruidoso Downs in New Mexico.
Shaken Goin On, a winner of 6 of 11 starts and $284,708, started in four stakes last year, finishing third in the Easy Jet Stakes at Remington Park in May and third in the $199,872 Mystery Futurity at Will Rogers Downs in September.
In her final start of 2024, Shaken Goin On was fifth by two lengths as the 2-1 favorite in the $536,151 Black Gold Fillies’ Futurity at Will Rogers Downs, the nation’s richest race for 2-year-old Quarter Horse fillies.
