HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Skelly won the $200,000 Lake Hamilton Stakes for the third year in a row Friday at Oaklawn Park, drawing out to a 10 1/2-length win over stablemate Ryvit. It was another half-length back in third to Durante.
The Lake Hamilton was a six-furlong race for 4-year-olds and up. It was held on a sloppy, sealed track.
Skelly ($2.20) broke well and established command of the race through an opening quarter of 22.05 seconds. He separated himself from the field on the turn, and after running a half-mile in 44.54 seconds, finished up in a blazing 1:08.15.
Ricardo Santana Jr. was aboard for trainer Steve Asmussen.
Skelly has now won 12 of 21 starts for earning of $1,975,763. The son of Practical Joke races for Red Lane Thoroughbreds.
