Emerald Downs
Slew's Tiz Whiz returned $6.44 in winning the Governor's Stakes on Sunday at Emerald Downs.

Slew’s Tiz Whiz won the $50,000 Governor’s Stakes for the fourth consecutive year Sunday at Emerald Downs, when he closed for a three-length win over Positivity.

It was another three-quarters of a length back in third to Bearings.

The race was one of six stakes on the card. Tom Wenzel, who trains Slew’s Tiz Whiz, won three of them. Earlier on the card, he teamed with owner George Todaro and jockey Carlos Montalvo to win back-to-back stakes, when Aloha Breeze successfully defended her title in the $50,000 Washington State Legislators and Falling Leaves accounted for the $50,000 Angie C.

Slew’s Tiz Whiz ($6.44) settled off the pressured pace set by Papa’s Golden Boy, who took the field through an opening quarter in 21.55 seconds and a half-mile in 43.41. The winner went on to cover 6 1/2 furlongs on a fast track in a quick 1:14.62.

Julien Couton was aboard for Slew’s Crew Racing.
