The Vegas Sports Information Network has expanded its radio reach to Charlotte, NC.
The Musburger Media-owned network has partnered with Charlotte-based WZGV-AM to launch a radio station exclusively offering sports betting content. Listeners will get up-to-date insights, analysis, and commentary on the world of sports and sports betting.
Charlotte is the nation's 21st-largest radio market, according to Radio Online.
Charlotte's web
WZGV’s radio station has rebranded from ESPN Charlotte 730 The Game to InsideTheGame.bet.
This comes just about two years after North Carolina legalized online sports betting and 16 months after the first online sportsbook launched.
Bill Adee, Vegas Sports Information Network (VSiN) CEO, is excited to bring a new experience to the North Carolina betting public.
“Charlotte’s passionate sports fan base is ready for sports talk radio that goes beyond hot takes and brings them inside the action of the game. We’re thrilled to partner with WZGV-AM 730 to deliver the credible, actionable sports betting information that our network is known for to this new audience.
“This top market is an important addition as we continue to expand the reach of VSiN’s leading network.”
The addition of Charlotte to VSiN’s radio network means it now has a presence on 350 stations in 46 states. It is also on television through streaming services and regional sports networks, according to its website.
“VSiN is the first sports media company dedicated to providing news, analysis, and proprietary data to the millions of Americans who wager on sports and make sports betting a multibillion-dollar industry.”
The new Charlotte radio station will offer sports betting content to its listening audience 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
Expansion continues
VSiN was founded by Brent Musburger and Adee in 2017. They sold the network to DraftKings in 2021 for around $70 million and then acquired it back for an undisclosed cost in July 2024.
Gaming research firm Eilers & Krejcik Gaming suggested the buyback could have been for “pennies on the dollar,” similar to when Penn Entertainment returned Barstool Sportsbook to founder Dave Portnoy for $1 after they purchased it for $551 million.
To help increase its visibility, VSiN last October launched the VSiN Watch app, which contained live audio and video feeds of its content. It also allowed users to rewatch old content with show replays.
VSiN late last year also launched several radio stations in Michigan, Kentucky, and Wisconsin. It also has an exclusive nightly show on SiriusXM thanks to a partnership it agreed to after Musburger Media re-acquired the network.
North Carolina sports betting had an up-and-down month in May, the state's most recent revenue report. Overall wagering handle fell 7% year-over-year, though an 11% hold resulted in a 3.3% year-over-year growth in revenue ($65.2 million).
The Tar Heel State legalized retail sports betting in 2019 with just a couple of retail locations in the state. There are now eight legal online sports betting platforms.
