This is the third Kentucky Derby Future Wager Pool to be offered for this year’s race, to be run May 2 at Churchill Downs. The lone Kentucky Derby points-scoring race this weekend is Saturday’s Grade 3, $250,000 Lecomte Stakes at Fair Grounds. That 11-horse field is led by Chip Honcho, the Gun Runner Stakes winner, who closed at 112-1 in pool 2. Maiden winner White Tiger (83-1 in pool 2, 59-1 in pool 1) and Mesquite (96-1 in pool 2) are the only other members of this field previously offered as individual betting interests.

Crown the Buckeye and Thunder Buck, both in the Lecomte field, are among 17 new horses added to pool 3 who were not offered as individual betting interests in pool 2. That list also includes Express Kid, winner of the Springboard Mile on Dec. 20; So Happy, winner of last Saturday’s Grade 2 San Vicente at Santa Anita; and Strategic Risk, winner of the Smarty Jones Stakes at Oaklawn Park.

Recent debut winners Chief Wallabee, Class President, D’code, Iron Honor, and Thunderously are also being offered as individual betting interests.

Other Future Wager dates are set for Feb. 13-15 (Pool 4), March 13-15 (Pool 5), and April 2-4 (Pool 6). Pool 5 also will include the Kentucky Oaks Future Wager.
