The Last Martini, one of the top 2-year-old pacing fillies in 2024, began her sophomore campaign with a New York Sire Stakes win

The Last Martini and Shes A Streaker received all the attention from the bettors in their respective $52,500 New York Sire Stakes races for 3-year-old pacing fillies on Sunday afternoon at Tioga Downs and delivered the goods.

Jason Bartlett and The Last Martini worked up two-wide to take the lead away from Fashion Terror (Braxten Boyd) just after the 27 4/5 quarter in the opening split, then went on to the half in 56 1/5 and the three-quarters in 1:24 2/5. From there, The Last Martini, last year's sire stakes champion for this group and the runner-up in both the She's A Great Lady and Breeders Crown finals, sprinted home in 27 2/5 to defeat Fashion Terror by 1 1/4 lengths with Fansville (Yannick Gingras) third after an unsuccessful first-over attempt.

Jared Bako trains the Crawford Farms-bred daughter of Huntsville for owner Glenview Livestock Ltd. The Last Martini has a summary of 5-4-1 from 11 starts, has put away $537,597 and paid $2.20 to win as the 1-9 favorite.

In the other flight Strutsville (Ridge Warren), Send It Down Slim (Mark MacDonald) and Shes A Streaker (Gingras) battled three-wide on the first turn, but Strutsville relented and settled into the three-hole while Shes A Streaker forged on and grabbed control away from Send It Down Slim beyond the 27 second opening quarter. Once she was on the engine, Shes A Streaker hit the half-mile marker in 55 3/5 and the three-quarters in 1:23 4/5, then used a 28 second final kicker to seal her 1 1/2 length triumph. Send It Down Slim was the runner-up and Strutsville followed in for third.

Shes A Streaker is another Huntsville filly and is trained by Ron Burke for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., Knox Services Inc., Frank Baldachino and J&T Silva- Purnel & Libby. Shes A Streaker, who was bred by Walnridge Farm Inc. and Bonnie Benson, has three wins, four seconds and seven thirds from 18 appearances, has pocketed $183,274 and returned $2.40 to win as the 1-5 choice.
